MuGAI (Multi-Gene Alignment)
MuGAl (Multi-Gene Alignment) is an online service that is specifically designed for large and cumbersome multiple gene datasets. This online service offers the ability to align your datasets automatically or manually with the facility offered by programs such as Se-Al (http://tree.bio.ed.ac.uk/software/seal/) or MacClade (http://macclade.org/macclade.html).
Because a great deal of time can be wasted just combining and ordering sequence data for a combined multiple gene analysis, our “Alignment Manager” software offers the benefit of automatically creating matrices with identical labels of OTUs (operational taxonomic units) in your choice of file output (Se-Al, nexus, or phylip). You have the option of automatically combining pre-aligned matrices of your choice or portions of matrices.
Our service provides a tool to upload and manage your data files while allowing you to create new aligned data files that are prepared in the same order for use in 3rd party programs. Uploaded data can be in the form of pre-existing matrices or as individual sequences.
The service also provides the function of online data storage that is completely secure and allows for an off-site data backup as well as the convenient tools for alignment and dataset comparison. This online platform is Mac, PC, and Linux compatible.
